Does anyone know anything about separating the left and right channels of a stereo file? I've got some files that have people talking on one side, and something different on the other side. I can't however, split the files by channel. is this possible? if so, what program will I need?
Thanks
Garret

Ya know, I think you can do that sort of thing with either wavepad or audacity. I've never tried it though.

Goldwave or soundforge. You can choose to work on each channel separately if you want. can't remember how to do it but it's really obvious and in the menus. Theoretically, you can copy all the audio in that channel and paste it into a new file and what not.

thanks to Devilish Anthony. I've got it now.
in Goldwave, hit either Control+Shift+L or R, depending on the channel you want. cut the selection and open a new file

if you press control P, it will paste the clipboard in a new file automatically. I love that "paste in new window" feature.

Oh cool. Thanks for these tips, Garret and Anthony. I knew how to do that with soundforge but didn't know how with goldwave. Now I do. haha
